Great Bear Woodworking

After quitting his job at corporate Safeway, Nathan began doing odd woodworking jobs here and there until he suddenly found himself in high demand. The business was growing and he needed clients to be able to see his portfolio.

I helped photograph some of his work, created a logo, and then quickly set up a portfolio site for him that allows clients to see his availability and contact him directly about new projects.

logo creation

Using Ursa Major as the inspiration for the logo, I created a constellation logo that Nathan could use to stand out from most woodworkers in the area who were mainly using monograms or wordmarks as their logos.

I sent Nathan brand guidelines which included how to use the logo on different backgrounds, and he had t-shirts made to increase brand awareness.

gallery

The most important part of the Great Bear Woodworking site is the gallery. As such, the homepage gives a snapshot of the different projects and as soon as the user clicks through they land on a scrolling page with all of the most recent work at the top.

easy booking

When Nathan contacted me he said a lot of people were reaching out to him that wanted work done immediately. Although he could complete many of these smaller projects in a week or two, he wanted a way to show clients what his availability was like so as to manage their expectations.

In order to help with this, I helped set him up with Acuity which I then added to the contact page so clients can see when he is available and book work from there.
